Holy Family Porirua Youth Ministry Runners Up - Wellington Airport Regional Communicty Awards 2025
Gemma Vailahi and Albet Le Reh, representing the Holy Family Porirua Youth Ministry, were honoured by the award of Runner Up in Education and Child/Youth Development category of the Regional Community Awards. Anita Baker, Mayor of Porirua and Jo Maxwell, Wellington Airport Manager, presented the award at the Porirua Ceremony on 22 July 2025.

The award acknowledges the work done by the Youth Ministry to provide a welcoming and safe space for young people aged 13 to their 20s to come together, build meaningful relationships, and grow in their faith. By learning together and forming strong bonds, young people are empowered to take what they gain at Holy Family, and positively impact the wider world. The next Youth Gathering is scheduled for 23 August, and we encourage all young people to attend.

Holy Family Parish Safeguarding Workshop
Kevin Plant, Safeguarding Coordinator for the Archdiocese of Wellington facilitated a workshop with Holy Family parishioners on Saturday 17 May 2025. Safeguarding promotes an environment within our faith community which respects and acknowledges the dignity of everyone, and where people feel valued and safe.
Kevin reiterated the importance of safeguarding, reinforcing the expectation of Pope Francis that the Church, on every level, implements whatever steps are necessary to ensure the protection of children and vulnerable adults.

Holy Family Parish Safeguarding Officers are Malia Perez & Peter Setefano.
